Desperate to read anything but this, I've decided it's time to track down some new reading material. When it comes to books, I've never been a fiction kinda girl. I have never read any of the Harry Potters, Twilights, or 50 Shades of Grey, but I promise I do enjoy diving into a good book every few weeks, especially when I'm at the beach. Maybe it's because Justin writes screenplays that I've always turned to movies to get that fiction fix, but for me I've always been addicted to uplifting biographies. I'm obsessed with reading people's stories, whether it be their whole life or just a special moment that changed them forever. Their successes, failures, heartbreak, and triumphs inspire me to no end. But in the spirit of change and growth, I've begun the search for some new reading material and I think it's time to escape into the world of fiction. Do you guys have any suggestions? What was the last great book you read? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Beautiful photos, looove the last one!

I'm a chick lit kinda girl so all the good books I've read recently have been very girly and vintage-inspired....which isn't everyone's thing.
ReplyDeleteSome of my favourites though have been 'Rose Hopkins Sweetshop of Dreams' and 'The Secret Lives of Dresses'.
50 Shades was ok but not as good as the hype said! :-)

ReplyDeleteYou look amazing, Anna. I just finished the Hunger Games, I know I'm the last person on earth, besides you I guess, lol. I'd recommend it though. It was fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI love books, to lose myself and take my mind else where is amazing. I love fiction books, and I can sometimes find 'real life' ones a bit too hard to deal with (the sad stories).
ReplyDeleteHope you had a lovely weekend Hun.

i love that sweater! unfortunately, i'm like you, and love non-fiction. but a great fiction book i read (that still incorporates history and real-life characters) was"the alienist". it's a psychological thriller and so good - highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! It looks so relaxing just to sit on the beach and enjoy the warm sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Portia de Rossi's Unbearable Lightness. It's uplifting in the end but it's about her dark past struggling with anorexia.
I'm a non-fiction junkie to. So, no help. lol
ReplyDeleteWithout question the best book I have ever read is "The Help." Even if you've seen the movie, read the book.
ReplyDeleteYou should try books that are loosely based on realty like Nicole Richies "The Truth about Diamonds" It's entertaining and still gives you an idea of what was going on behind the scenes with her and Paris.
ReplyDeleteDon't give up on Harry Potter.
ReplyDeleteFriends Forever by Danielle Steel. Just finished and already want to read it again.

You should definitely read Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand if you're into inspirational biographies. It's about a WWII airman who gets lost at sea in the Pacific after his plane is shot down. It's an incredible true store! Cute outfit!

ReplyDeleteModel: A Memoir,by Cheryl Diamond, is a very good book. It is older and I read it a couple of years ago but I still remember it and think about it often. It is about Cheryl Diamond at the age of fourteen in NYC living on her own trying to make it into the business.
ReplyDeleteoh my god, so fresh photos! you look very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, love those shorts! I have to tell you, Harry Potter is a great read. I've read them all, and love them. But if that's not your thing, another great book is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It's a fantastic love story, based on a book in the Bible, but it is fictional. It's really wonderful, a great read. I highly recommend it!

Love your outfit.. you look so comfy yet chic. I have recently read "Bossy Pants" by Tina Fey and "Sarah's Key".. both were awesome. Bossy Pants was hilarious and Sarah's Key was a bit somber so both VERY different. I got a recommendation from one of my readers for "Let's Pretend This Never Happened".. she said it is hysterical. I downloaded it to my kindle immediately and can't wait to read it. Happy reading!!

The Glossy Life
Of course you may already know this- but the Lauren Conrad series L.A. Candy is amazing! I flipped right through
ReplyDeletethem. Another great trilogy is "Stork," which has the sequel "Frost" out already. The third and final book by Wendy Delsol is coming out soon-ish. I am such a bookworm! If you want any inspirational autobiographies, try James Blake: Breaking Back or Andre Agassi: Open. Even if you don't play tennis, they are still super motivating and great books. Hope this helped! : )
